Hi, I’m Megan, welcome! I’m so happy you’re here.
I’m a licensed therapist and professor of psychology based in Santa Barbara, California and I can’t believe these are real jobs because I love them so much.
In my practice, I rely on a blend of talk therapy, somatic healing modalities and a sense of humor to support my clients in their pursuit of well being. My theoretical orientation is rooted in depth psychology, which emphasizes the idea that our early experiences influence how we relate to ourselves and others later in life.
While my work is mainly dedicated to working with people in the healing arts, I also see couples and individuals in the midst of big life transitions — loss, ruptures, heartbreak — that need support.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I provide clinical supervision to other practitioners and am a member of the teaching faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Montecito.

Therapy as a Ritual

The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice --
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voice behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do --
determined to save
the only life that you could save.
